NASA scientists are developing a new method based on Earth's magnetic field. Water conducts electricity, so as the ocean tides cycle, they push and pull on the magnetic field, providing information on ocean temperatures. Better measurements of ocean heat content will help scientists understand the impacts of a warming climate.
